Unwanted facial and body hair can be challenging to address on a daily basis. Conventional means of hair removal such as waxing, shaving, tweezing, and electrolysis are time-consuming, painful, and expensive. What’s more, the hair always grows back, inviting the cycle of discomfort to continue.
Who Makes an Ideal Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal works by zoning in on the melanin pigments in the hair follicles, selecting them for destruction. Hence, ideal candidates have darker hair and lighter skin. With darker skin tones, the laser energy may be less effective in penetrating the hair follicles. For this reason, it is essential that you stay away from tanning, tanning beds, and spray tanning for at least one week before your appointment.
Patients with naturally dark skin tones are eligible for our newer, improved laser technology that is highly effective without the risk of hyperpigmentation. Patients with white or gray hair will not be eligible for treatment because the hair follicles do not contain the required pigment needed to attract the laser energy. During your private consultation with our team, we will examine your skin and hair and determine your candidacy at that time.
